Paul S. Tsang was snorkeling in waters off Mauna Lani Beach Club at about 12:35 p.m. when someone on shore noticed he was floating. A paddleboarder from Ogden, Utah, went to check on Tsang and found him unresponsive.

Tsang was brought ashore, where a nurse from Tucson, Ariz., and local lifeguards personnel performed CPR until Fire Department medics arrived.

Tsang was pronounced dead at 1:39 p.m. at North Hawaii Community Hospital.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
